Speakers

Benjamin Bernard is senior staff engineer at Infineon technologies focusing on development of new laser applications. He gained a passion for photonics by developing passively q-switched microchip laser during university followed by several years as application engineer for Spectra-Physics.

Senior Staff Engineer at Infineon Technologiesc

As founder and CEO of the FIT Additive Manufacturing Group, Dipl.-Ing. Carl Fruth has been committed to additive manufacturing for more than 25 years. Today he is one of the world's leading AM experts. He is currently focusing on automation and digitization topics in order to advance the industrialization of manufacturing processes and to help 3D printing achieve a breakthrough in the volume manufacturing business. As a speaker, he is known and appreciated for his clear opinions and strategic vision.

CEO at FIT

Rolando Ferrini (Chief Regional Officer & Head of FEMTOprint Neuchâtel) joined FEMTOprint in 2022 as Chief Regional Officer and Head of FEMTOprint Neuchâtel, the new subsidiary devoted to the development and commercialization of photonic-related microdevices in glass. In 1999, he obtained his PhD degree in Physics at the Università degli Studi di Pavia, Pavia, Italy, with a thesis on the optical properties of III-V semiconductor materials for electronics and optoelectronics. From 2000 to 2004, he worked as Research Associate at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), Lausanne, Switzerland, where he studied the optical properties of semiconductor-based photonic crystal devices. From 2004 to 2011, as Senior Research Associate at EPFL, he was in charge of the activities on organic devices for optics, photonics and lighting. From 2011 to 2022, he worked at CSEM as Group Leader MicroNano Optics and, from 2021 to 2022, also as Head of the Focus Area Photonics. From 2020 to 2021 he founded the PHABULOuS pilot line for the manufacturing of freeform micro-optical components, acting as coordinator of the corresponding H2020 project PHABULOuS and as Managing Director of the pilot line.

Chief Regional Officer at FEMTOprint
Group Manager Surface Functionalization at Fraunhofer IWS

Raúl García (CEO) graduated industrial engineer at Politechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), Raúl complemented his academic training in the New York University and Iese. From his professional beginnings Raúl was specialized in high quality industrial engraving and micro milling applied on mould and tool. Nowadays, apart from the general managing of Microrelleus SL, he is in charge of the adaptation and application of new technologies (femtosecond and nanosecond laser in 5 axis), and he collaborates with R&D and design departments of his customers.

Dr. Evangelos Skoulas (CTO) finished his PhD in 2020 in Materials Science and Technology from the University of Crete. He has published many scientific papers on applied physics and was awarded with the young scientist award from the European Research Society in 2017 on Bio-inspired materials. He is one of the main inventors of the current Biomimetic technology and he is specialized in ultrafast laser surface structuring, optical design, surface functionalization, beam shaping and light-matter interactions.
