Photonic technologies have revolutioned vision research, which has experienced a fast and exciting progress. The new methods to study and characterize the different segments of the eye and the ocular biomechanics have found important applications, such as the control and correction of myopia. The development of customized lenses and IOL has demanded new fabrication and characterization processes. And, last but no least, there is a growing interest in the use of coherent light sources to enhance the properties of some of the segment of the eye and the treatment of common diseases in the retina.
In this meeting we will cover the emerging photonics technologies in this field and we will also understand the evolution of the existing techniques to cover the demands of the new applications. Imaging technologies and devices (OCT, OCE, multiphoton microscopy…), novel lasers and light sources, visual simulators, spectroscopic characterization techniques… will be discussed with experts from the whole supply chain.
Pouya Rajaeipour is Co-founder and Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of Phaseform. Pouya oversees all of Phaseform's application-based research and development and leads engagements with key customers, including SMEs and large OEMs in the microscopy and ophthalmology sectors, to drive industrial integrations of DPP. His business development role has led to the successful expansion of the retinal imaging application for Phaseform's DPP technology. Rajaeipour received his PhD and MSc in Microsystems Engineering from IMTEK at the University of Freiburg, where he has been involved in the DPP project since its inception. He has made significant contributions, including the development of characterization and simulation tools and a novel optimization-based control system for DPP. He developed the "world's smallest AO-enabled fluorescence microscope", which includes the first complete adaptive optics system around DPP technology and a sensorless wavefront estimation algorithm. Rajaeipour holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Isfahan University of Technology (Iran) with a focus on mechatronic systems.
