Join us in this EPIC Tech Watch during the Asia Photonics Expo in Singapore, where selected EPIC members will participate, sharing their knowledge and experience. A unique environment to discuss cutting-edge technology and market trends, and debate on the needs from the user perspective.

The presentations will take place on 26 February 2025 at Sands Expo and Convention Centre (address: 10 Bayfront Ave, Singapore 018956) . Everyone with a ticket to the EXPO can also attend the EPIC TechWatch.

Speakers

Myun-Sik Kim, the Principal Business Development Manager at Leister International AG, earned his Ph.D. in Photonics from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland in 2011. In September 2024, he transitioned to Leister International AG (part of the Leister Group) from its sister company Axetris. Since January 2019, he has held various roles at Axetris, including Application Engineer Team Manager, Product Manager, and Principal Strategic Business Development. Currently, he serves as the Principal Business Development Manager for the APAC regions (Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and more), focusing on identifying new clients and applications for the entire Leister product portfolio. His interests include industrial manufacturing processes with hot-air blowers and infrared heaters, as well as traditional plastic fabrication and waterproof roofing technologies.

Eric Ling (Business Development Director at Axetris) earned Master degree in Optical engineering from Beijing University of Technology. Since 2014, he has been focusing on sales role to various fields, e.g. machine vision, laser machining, fiber laser, communication, etc. Currently, he serves as Business Development Director on sales management in APAC area, and also part of future markets and applications for Axetris Micro-Optics and Service products. His expertise lies in the field of micro-optics and its applications, such as telecom and datacom transceivers, FMCW LiDAR and quantum computing.

Lichen Sun, Product Line Manager of Global Photonics Foundry at Focuslight. He has been an R&D engineer and product line manager for high-power diode laser at Focuslight over 7 years. In 2024, following Focuslight's acquisition of ams OSRAM's Optical Component Assets, Lichen transitioned into his role as the Product Line Manager of the Global Photonics Foundry.

Dariusz Swierad, Ph.D., is an experienced executive in photonics and adjacent industries, working in management positions from engineering to sales and marketing. Since 2018, he has been director of sales and marketing at Fluence.technology, a company developing and manufacturing next-generation industrial grade, reliable, long-lifetime, serviceless, ultrafast femtosecond laser technology.

From 2017 to 2018, Swierad led the development of a miniaturized atomic clock at Teledyne e2v, and prior to that, he was a field sales engineer at TOPTICA Photonics UK, developing the laser market for quantum and terahertz applications. He is a physics graduate from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun in Poland. Swierad was awarded a doctorate from the University of Birmingham in the U.K., where he developed stable and ultrastable laser systems for optical atomic clocks, including the Space Optical Clock for the International Space Station.

Viacheslav (Slava) Artyushenko was born in 1954 and got his PhD in physics of solid state in 1981 – focused on his pioneering development of unique technology of polycrystalline fibres for Mid IR-range: 3-18µm. His multiple publications and patents were devoted to specialty fibre optic technologies and their applications in laser surgery and diagnostics, in process-spectroscopy and fibre optic sensing. In 1998, he has founded art photonics GmbH in Berlin – one of the worldwide leading manufacturers of various fibres, cables, bundles and spectroscopy probes used in very broad spectral range 0.3-16µm for many industrial, medical, scientific and other applications. End of 2023 art photonics was acquired by Nynomic AG to join 12 other partners of Nynomic group. Dr. Artyushenko & AP-team are the members of EPIC, CPACT, SPIE, OPTICA, SPECTARIS, Optec-BB, GDCh-DECHEMA, etc.

Patrick graduated from NUS and holds a Master’s Degree in Material Science and Engineering. He worked for Evatec as a Field Application Engineer in the beginning and later was the Application Specialist in the Asia Technical Support team. He is now the Technical Marketing Manager responsible for sales and marketing activities in South East Asia region.

Gary Jui Meng NG is a seasoned professional in technical sales and business engineering with extensive experience in the optics and technology sectors. Gary handles multiple product lines for the South East Asian market. Gary holds a Master of Science in Physics with a specialization in Applied Optics, a Post Graduate of Science in Physics, and a Bachelor of Technology in Optoelectronics, all from The University of Auckland.

Qu Yingli, PhD, is a specialist in nonlinear optics, with a strong focus on ultrafast laser optics and beam shaping. With extensive experience in photonics and optical system design, Dr. Qu is actively involved in research and development of advanced laser optics and technologies

Yuqing Jiao received bachelor’s degree with honor from the Chu Kochen Honors College, Zhejiang University, China, in 2008. After that, he received the Philips Brainbridge Fellowship and conducted joint PhD research on integrated photonics at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), the Netherlands, and the Zhejiang University. In 2013, he obtained dual PhD degrees from the two universities. He continued his research at TU/e, and was appointed Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in 2016 and 2023, respectively. His research interests include integrated nanophotonics technology for ultrahigh speed and energy efficiency, and heterogeneous integration for the convergence of photonics and electronics. He is a senior member of the IEEE and serves TPCs for multiple top conferences in the field.

Šarūnas Vaškelis (CEO) joined DMC in 2019 and has since been responsible for business development and company growth. He has a strong technical background in physics and software engineering, along with years of experience in management and business development within the photonics industry. Before joining DMC, he served as a senior sales engineer, working on various photonics-related projects. Prior to that, he held multiple research and consulting positions, including at Hitachi in Japan. He holds a BSc and MSc in physics from Vilnius University.

Jerry R McCormick is an experienced senior staff software engineer at Mitutoyo Research & Development America (1996-2024) - worked on the Mitutoyo’s metrology software application for the Quick Vision system. He is now at Mitutoyo Asia Pacific responsible for Quick Vision training, Sales support, and provide customized measurement solutions.
