EPIC Online Technology Meeting on Fiber Sensors for Industrial Applications
Online Event

Free Event

Optical fiber sensors use the physical properties of light as it travels along a fiber to detect variations in different parameters, such as temperature, strain, vibration or deformation. In contrast to conventional measuring instruments, fiber sensors are resistant to electromagnetic interferences and they can withstand harsh environments, including high temperatures, pressures and radiation. And, due to the low light attenuation of optical glass fibers, they can be multiplexed and interrogated over several kilometres. All these characteristics make fiber sensors a very attractive tool in different industrial applications, from the aerospace to energy and oil & gas. In this online meeting, we will review the status of the technology in different industrial applications, find the latest developments related with fiber sensors and their components and discuss with end users about their challenges and requirements to improve their performance.
