EPIC HR Workgroup meeting
Online Event

EPIC established the HR Workgroup to address the challenges its members are facing in HR. In this session, we will focus on attracting young talent to photonics. Various current initiatives will share their insights, and we will invite EPIC Members to participate in an online session aimed at 2nd year university students in physics and engineering. The goal is to introduce them to photonics and encourage them to pursue internships within EPIC Member companies.

Events are restricted to members only and recommended for the HR job title / role at the companies.

Speakers

Gwenaëlle Lefeuvre is Development Manager at Photonics Bretagne since 2022. She received her PhD in Experimental Particle Physics from Université Paris Cité (formerly Paris 7 Denis Diderot), worked as a research assistant in the USA and in the UK, before setting up a business unit in a British SME. She has extensive experience in setting up optical and radiation calibration systems, and in the manufacture of semiconductor-based sensors.

Business Developer at Photonics Bretagne

Bill graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology with a degree in engineering physics. He went on to get his MS and PhD from Northeastern University in electrical engineering and did a postdoc at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Bill spent his first 10 years at Thorlabs splitting his time between product development across the entire portfolio and educating engineers on the use of photonics equipment. Bill is now the Director of Photonics Education at Thorlabs, concentrating his efforts on raising awareness about photonics, generating immersive learning experiences, and illuminating pathways for students to enter the photonics community.
