Laser technologies are enabling the development of new tools in the medical diagnostics and device manufacturing. In this TechWatch, the last developments of medical lasers will be presented together with the most exciting applications. Laser microstructuring enabling material anti-bacterial properties, rapid bacteria detection, biopsy-free differentiation of tumoral from healthy tissue, continuous vital parameters monitoring and many other applications will be discussed .
