EPIC Online Technology Meeting on Laser Processes for Automotive and Electro Mobility in cooperation with PhotonicsViews
Online Event

In cooperation with

Join us for an insightful online meeting where we will explore the latest advancements in laser technology and its transformative impact on the automotive industry. Laser processes, including cutting and welding, have reached a high level of maturity and are widely adopted in production lines, significantly enhancing manufacturing flexibility and product reliability. Emerging applications such as laser texturing, structuring, and ablation are poised to further improve process efficiency and product quality.

As the demand for electric vehicles grows, the need for more efficient, high-performance batteries presents new challenges. Innovative laser processes are addressing critical manufacturing hurdles, offering solutions for cutting separators and electrodes, and welding dissimilar metals, paving the way for new production concepts.

In collaboration with our media partner, PhotonicsViews, during this meeting we will discuss the latest market trends and developments, while also looking onto the evolving needs of end users and the future of laser technology in automotive manufacturing.

Speakers
Research & Innovation Director at Ecor International S.p.A.

Product Line Manager for laser material processing applications, Gwenn Pallier holds a Masters’s degree in optical engineering from the Institute of Optics (Paris, France). After working at Qioptiq, Thales and Lumibird as Optical Engineer and Project Manager for multiple applications in defense, space and medical, Gwenn is Product Line Manager at Cailabs for more than 6 years. She brings her expertise to the development and commercialization of innovative optical solutions, that optimize the quality and performance of laser-based material processes.

Product Line Manager at Cailabs

Sören Hollatz studied mechanical engineering in Aachen and went on to work as a research scientist at Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology where he completed his doctorate in the field of laser welding. In 2023 he started working at 4D Photonics as a technology manager.

Product Manager at 4D Photonics

Dr. Markus Kogel-Hollacher started his work in the laser industry in 1994 at the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology (Aachen). After graduating in 1996, he continued his work at Precitec in Germany. This work has been extensively discussed in several journals and presented at various conferences. In 2008 he obtained his Ph.D. at the Technical University of Berlin, Germany. Dr. Markus Kogel-Hollacher is an innovator in photonic sensor technology for various applications. Working together with RTD performers and end users one of his guiding principles is to continuously increase the reliability and the use of sensor devices, also in laser materials processing. Dr. Kogel-Hollacher has received the prestigious PRISM Award in 2023 for his innovation bringing OCT sensor technology into semiconductor industry. In 2012 and 2014 he was finalist of the European Innovation Award Laser Technology. In 2024, he was awarded the honor of being one of the 100 photonics industry’s most innovative people.

Head of department R&D projects at Precitec

Claudia Reinlein is the CEO of ROBUST AO, which she founded in 2020 as a Fraunhofer IOF spin-off. Her focus is the development of opto-mechanics for dynamic beam shaping. Claudia previously led a team at Fraunhofer IOF, focusing on active and adaptive optics. She earned her PhD in mechanical engineering from TU Ilmenau in 2012, with award-winning research on printed deformable mirrors.
