At this online meeting intersections of photonics and artificial intelligence, as explored in our technology report, “AI in Photonics” will be discussed. This session covers how AI is revolutionizing photonics, including advancements in optical design, simulation testing, imaging, and network/energy optimization. We will also discuss the reciprocal impact of photonics on AI, particularly in areas like Neuromorphic Computing, Quantum Photonics, Photonics in AI Hardware, and other emerging applications. This meeting promises to provide valuable perspectives for anyone interested in the future of these intertwined technologies and will be presented by the technology report author Bruce Bateman.
This Technology Report is dedicated to EPIC members only.
With over 40 years of experience in computing, Bruce has been a technical lead and core team member in 23 startups, spanning both remarkable successes and valuable lessons. His expertise lies in telecom, large-scale Wi-Fi deployments, and smart city systems design.
He has authored 26 research publications, including four with EPIC, and leads Bateman Research, a firm specializing in private technical research for corporate clients and due diligence for venture capital firms.
Currently, Bruce advises energy companies on developing and deploying AI algorithms for energy and battery management, exploring innovative approaches to energy optimization and trading.
Previously, Bruce was Chief Technical Advisor at LITEON, an $8B global leader in optical and electronic manufacturing. Before that, he contributed to major players like Ruckus Wireless (Wi-Fi cities), Dell Networking (datacenters and corporate networks), 2Wire, and iCast, among others.
