The Mid-IR region (2.5um-15um) of the electromagnetic spectrum has attracted a lot of interest due to the fact that most molecules have absorption lines in this wavelength range. It has been already applied to sensing and spectroscopy, to perform precise and fast product analysis for detecting undesired vapours, pollutants, hazardous or flammable compounds, in particular for the chemical and refining industries. Imaging technologies in that spectral range have also demonstrated a high impact on steel, glass or cement manufacturing industries, where process monitoring and quality controls involve measurements in harsh environments with very high temperatures and smoky and dusty conditions. Laser processing of materials has also been explored recently with new sources in the Mid-IR region. In this meeting, we will discuss with the entire MidIR community about the new developments of laser sources and detectors, we will discover innovative applications and we will understand the challenges of the industries already using solutions in this spectral region.

Samuel Poulain holds a Msc of engineering at ENSTA Paris in 1997. He worked in PSA Peugeot-Citroën as a project manager in electricity and electronics in 2 automotive projects then joined the strategic direction of PSA. Samuel is the general manager of Le Verre Fluoré since 2015.
Ian has been involved in IR Filters for over 25 years and has seen many developments, improvements and changes. Currently the Managing Director of Vortex Optical Coatings, an SME in Hinckley UK, they are heavily involved in state of the art IR monitoring applications and future developments!
