EPIC Market Report on Raman Technologies by Tematys
Online Event

Raman Spectroscopy is a non-destructive chemical analysis technique based on the interaction of light with the chemical bonds of the material under analysis. It is a very powerful tool which provides detailed information about chemical structures, phases, crystallinity, molecular interactions… The Raman spectrum is a distinct fingerprint of a molecule or material and can be used to perform a chemical identification or to distinguish it in a set of different samples. It can also give quantitative information, because the intensity of the spectrum is directly proportional to the concentration.

Raman can be used to analize very different samples, including solids, liquids, powders… It has been widely used in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries due to the capability of analizing the concentration and distribution of certain components in a material or the internal structure of the final product. Also as an anti-counterfeit tool, to detect potential fake products or unauthorized copies. Art and restoration has also taken benefit of the properties of Raman spectra to analyze the composition of old pigments or ceramics. Life sciences, forensics, semiconductors… are some of the industries where Raman is present. The combination of Raman spectroscopy with microscopes has allowed to obtain maps of the surface of complex materials, tissues and other biological samples. It has a very promising application in cancer pathology, as a fast tool to identify cancer cells and help surgeons to identify the area they should remove.

In this Market Report we will discover the state of the art of these technologies, the main players and their position in the market as well as the main trends both in terms of technology and applications.

This Market Report is dedicated to EPIC members only.
