Software is indispensable for the design and optimization of photonics components and systems, particularly for photonic integrated circuits (PICs) and related components, as well as fibre optics applications and optical transmission systems.
A wide range of off-the-shelf and customized software solutions are available in the form of pre-configured building blocks, which speed up design and reduce development costs.
Next-generation photonics software will also need to provide solutions for data acquisition and processing due to the enormous amount of data created by photonics systems resulting from the massive increase in the use of sensors and time-sensitive applications such as LiDAR for autonomous vehicles and augmented/virtual reality and industrial robots.
