Photonics is becoming a strategic technology for defense readiness, enabling advanced capabilities in sensing, targeting, surveillance, protection, secure communications and counter-UAS systems. In a geopolitical context marked by increasing defense investments, drone warfare, contested environments and the need for sovereign supply chains, armed forces require photonic systems that are not only high-performance, but also compact, rugged, scalable and deployable.
Hosted by VIGO Photonics, this EPIC Technology Meeting will gather defense integrators, photonic technology suppliers, research organizations and end users to discuss the next generation of photonics-enabled defense capabilities. The program will address infrared and multispectral sensing, compact photonic systems including PICs and SWaP-C reduction, laser technologies, counter-UAS applications, secure optical systems and the strategic role of European supply chains.
Building on previous EPIC meetings on photonics for defense, this event will focus on how the photonics industry can move from advanced components to mission-ready systems for the 2027–2030 defense landscape.
